Manon De Pauw’s multiform work takes shape in the interstice where the image, as Georges Didi-Huberman remarks, appears with its “luminous vapour”. In a fine paradox, an image is born only to vanish, but it is supported by an unavoidable materiality which makes it perceptible in the form of flags, pencils, sheets of paper, ink, paintings, screens and, above all, the body’s gestures as they manipulate these objects before light or a projection. This first monograph on the work of Manon De Pauw covers her entire output over the past ten years, including the exhibition held at the Galerie de l’UQAM and curated by Louise Déry. Profusely illustrated, the volume includes an essay by the curator, a text by the artist and a complete bio-bibliography.
