In this silent video, De Pauw wittily and inventively reflects on crafting the self by borrowing from animated film techniques. In Vide intérieur (“interior void”), the dimensions of the frame correspond precisely to the 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper the artist uses to write, draw and manipulate objects on. A motif that is also employed in her video Corps pédagogique, the blank page is practically the main character in this work, since it is used simultaneously as a space for introspection, a canvas, and a projection surface.
