Through practices within and around image, the research and creation project L’image manquante poses a series of question on the construction of cultural identity. These booklets conclude three years of research, workshops and experiments at the intersection of painting and history, video and sound, exhibition and writing.
Designed by Monique Régimbald-Zeiber, booklet 1 broaches how the image circulates through the development of gaze, history, discourse and artwork in two essays: Itinéraire de délestage by Monique Régimbald-Zeiber, and ICI MOI J’IMAGE by Nicole Jolicoeur.

In booklet 2, Louise Déry proposes two essays on “writing the exhibition” and the art object in its condition of work on display. It also documents the exhibition Le touché de la peinture and includes texts by poet Normand de Bellefeuille about the manuscript and Aïda Kazarian’s painting practice.

In booklet 3, Mario Côté considers the gaps or proximity between image and sound from a variety of perspectives. Choreographer Christine Marneffe is poetic fiction Les mauvaises pensées highlights the border between images and speech, which was the inspiration for video cosigned with Mario Côté.

This publication won an award in the 2006 Grafika competition for the book category.
