Le soulèvement infini marks the end of the international tour of Uprisings, an exhibition organized by Georges Didi-Huberman and produced by Jeu de Paume in Paris, presenting the Montréal adaptation of this vast transdisciplinary project. Nearly fifty works, archival documents, documentary photographs, books, magazines and films have been incorporated into the exhibition in order to conjure various uprisings linked to identity, feminist, antiracist and Indigeneous claims that have occurred in Québec and in Canada. In addition to an abundant visual documentation, exhibition plans and a variety of documentary resources, the book begins with a portfolio by Georges Didi-Huberman consisting of seventy-two photographs taken during the six successive Uprisings installations. Uprisings is a cross-disciplinary exhibition on the theme of collective emotions and also political events where they involve crowds of people in revolt. It is about social disorder, political agitation, uprisings, rebellions, revolts, revolutions, racket and riots – disturbances of all kinds.
