This exhibition completes the Fourth Biennial of Contemporary Tapestry in Montreal, as it presents the many ways of using fibers.
The works on display explore the ways colour is applied to fibers, fabrics or papers, as well as three-dimensionality and mixed techniques.
The presentation of the biennial is an opportunity to showcase the work of professors and lecturers teaching fine arts in the Université du Québec network. This exhibition illustrates how creation should take, in the field of fine arts, the same importance that research has had, for a long time, in scientific fields. Creation and research thus become the driving force of all university education.
At UQAM, anything related to creation is offered an equivalent status to that of research in the eyes of traditional universities.
Textile, support et matière brings together works from different Constituents in order to intensify exchanges within the entire network, which has a virtual monopoly on arts education in Quebec.
