This book is the first volume in a brand new series of small, affordable publications produced by the Galerie de l’UQAM. It documents the major components of the exhibition Basculer, conceived by the three young curators Julie Bélisle, Mélanie Boucher and Audrey Genois. The works of BGL, Sébastien Cliche, Claudie Gagnon, Philomène Longpré and Yann Pocreau employ guile in order to catch us in their trap. And yet, beneath the enchantment they provoke, a kind of ambiguity or malaise, perhaps even a critique, seems to quietly take shape.
