Sarah-Jeanne Landry. À propos de la parole

Graduating Master’s Student in Visual and Media Arts, UQAM

Artist: Sarah-Jeanne Landry

November 13, 2024 - January 18, 2025

Opening: November 12, 2024, 5:30 pm

“There are times when my ability to speak vanishes, my throat chokes up, my mind empties, and words become confused. This intrigued me. I thought that there was something there to untangle and explore. So I started recording myself every day in order to consider my relationship to speech.”

The exhibition À propos de la parole by Sarah-Jeanne Landry caries out an analysis of this self-reflective thinking: a zealous endeavour, bordering on madness, that embraces its own excesses. The exhibition presents the outcome of Landry’s research into the possibilities of documenting micro-performance through words, from an internal and subjective perspective as much as possible, and of giving form to archives through a series of artist’s books.
