The Galerie de l’UQAM offers, exclusively in Montreal, from May 12 to 18, 1986, a preview of the shows Les nouveaux mondes and Vu du pôle, presented at the Canada pavilion at Exposition 86 in Vancouver. This electroacoustic music was composed by Philippe Ménard, professor in the communications department at UQAM. The music was created at Studio Jacasson with the assistance of Jean Corriveau and René Beaudry and produced by Aimée Danis of Productions du Verseau Inc. The exhibition designer and project manager is Laurent Marquart, for GSM Design.

Les nouveaux mondes and Vu du pôle are considered electroacoustic music in the sense that they mix acoustic sounds and synthetic electronic sounds, ornamented or deeply modified by the most recent digital techniques. They are nevertheless warm, emotional and dramatic.

This music also draws from the repertoire of rock music or environmental music, with which they share a taste for the “beat”, new electronic colors, and a “mise-en-scène” of a sophisticated space. One of their most important features is that they were designed for complex delivery devices designed by the composer himself.
