Mario Bartolini. Mémorial des colonnes et de l’espace du lieu

From October 2 to 25, the Galerie de l’UQAM presents the Mémorial des colonnes et de l’espace du lieu exhibition. The artist-creator is Mario Bartolini who has devoted more than 30 years of his life to teaching at the École des Beaux-arts in Montreal and the University of Quebec in Montreal.

The starting point of this exhibition is the physical aspect of the Galerie de l’UQAM. Indeed, it is the space of the gallery and the presence of the columns that have determined the placement of objects, in order to remind the visitors that the place and the object are inseparable. M. Bartolini is interested in the relationship of individuals to the architecture, its continuous scale variations and their relationship with the surrounding objects. Finally, words play a decisive role in this set-up since they signify the artist’s concerns.
