Jean Pelchat. Visors

Master's student in fine arts, UQAM

Artist: Jean Pelchat

November 27, 1987 - December 6, 1987

Opening: November 26, 1987, 8:00 pm

Jean Pelchat, a master’s student in fine arts, presents six paintings entitled Visors. They consist in a simplified analytical reorganization, following the total disintegration of representation devices that was the subject of the Information corpus series exhibited at the Lachine Museum last May.

Unlike this previous production, the Visors incorporate a new transformational pictorial system. The targeted elements and data serve as the basis for a study of topological pattern / surface relationships. For Jean Pelchat, painting is a vision device. If it is not a purely “retinal” art, as Marcel Duchamp said, one of its functions remains to make things visible.
