La Petite Collection

Since 2009, Galerie de l’UQAM is developing a curio cabinet called La Petite Collection. This collection comprises artists’ multiples produced for the most part in limited editions. The project stems from a scientific and museological approach designed to expand and enhance the educational function of the Collection d’œuvres d’art de l’UQAM.

A contemporary curio cabinet devoted primarily to signed and numbered objects serves as a corpus for investigating new modes of exhibition, promote openness to objects of different statuses and, thus, lead to innovation in new avenues of collecting. La Petite Collection also serves to illustrate a process employed by some contemporary artists and to represent the practices of nationally and internationally known artists.
