“So this stroke on the canvas, do not ask for more, it is its mark on my life. Why I paint. What we want to know. What it does to a life, for a lifetime. What to live. We create from that which is around. And when it comes out, we know nothing.”
Johanne Jarry lives and works in Montreal. She has worked as a journalist and literary researcher, and is currently a lecturer in the literary studies department at UQAM. She is writing a doctoral thesis in étude et pratique des arts at the same university. For the past years, she has experimented with interdisciplinarity as a means of intensifying her relationship to form. The publication was supported by Figura, a centre for research on writing and imagination.
