Michel Bricault. Paintings 1987-1988 brings together a dozen acrylic paintings on canvas. For this artist, the creative work develops intuitively. Marks and traces are placed randomly.

“The process begins when I see through the clutter, the suggestion of an image-form that I then try to extract from this disorder. I add, I subtract, I blur or I erase, but it is often only when I stop wanting to impose my will on the material, on the process, that a sensation takes shape. It is like a form of abandonment, in which a passage takes place. It is rare that I know an image is finished; rather an impression that it is. Sometimes, uncertainty of the outcome produces a greater long-term satisfaction. The image seems to have more force. “
