Exhibition faire avec unfolds around the strategies that artist Émylie Bernard uses to cope with her generalized anxiety disorder. Through videoperformance, drawing, cyanotype, writing and meditative rituals, she explores the creative potential of this form of subjective distress: its origins, causes, symptoms and treatments. The artist thus draws from her anxiety itself, giving it shape without distorting or hiding it. Utilizing an introspective approach, both humble and sensitive, she transforms her malaise into a search for agency. The artist finds refuge in the bed as a motif, which at once harbors her vulnerabilities and shields her from the threats of others. It is found in many of her works and performance artefacts. The intimate and domestic atmosphere of the exhibition welcomes inwardness and feeling. In faire avec, Émylie Bernard transposes her own experience and research on anxiety, sharing her work imbued with a bold fragility.
