Artist statement
“My work aims to create a relationship between illusory figurative drawings and an abstract reality.
This relationship is materialized by the support that operates between the two components of the image, making its reading more understandable. The figurative theme is approached through representation, from photographs, of very realistic characters.
Parts of these characters are erased, faces are blurred, which gives them a certain anonymity and makes them liable to identification by the viewer.
As a tool, the eraser plays the role of subtraction and addition. Indeed, by moving back and forth, it moves the strata of graphics on the surface and thereby flattens the drawings.
The geometric division of the surface accentuates the two-dimensional / three-dimensional paradox, and allows the appearance of the figurative image. This superficial paradox eventually becomes a unique monad in its duality. »
