L’Œil de Beckett (Beckett’s Eye) takes as its starting point the short story by Samuel Beckett’s Le dépeupleur, or The Lost Ones. This work possesses laboratory-like connotations in its eye-like glass orb and auditory tube that make the sculpture seem like a bimodal prosthesis. It’s as if we could use it to modify out sensory experience of the world in order to see and hear that which is hidden from our normal faculties.
