Galerie de l'UQAM offers various ways to access today's art practices

Our mediators look forward to taking you and your group on guided tours of our exhibitions. These visits are intended to highlight the thematic, formal and conceptual issues of the works presented at the Galerie. They are also intended to introduce Galerie de l'UQAM's mandate and the primary role of university galleries in the ecology of the visual arts scene. The tours are flexible and open to all school and community groups. Their content can be adapted to meet your particular needs and to complement material covered in the classroom.

In addition, Galerie de l’UQAM can host your conferences or work sessions in its exhibitions galleries, surrounded by the artworks.

We also offer a number of complementary workshops aimed at familiarizing your students with different issues related to contemporary art and museology:
  • the mandate and role of a university gallery
  • the Collection d’œuvres d'art de l’UQAM: management, inventory, acquisition
  • the Petite Collection: foray into the world of artists' multiples
  • other workshops available on request.

These activities are available anytime, in French or English, free of charge.

Recently, Galerie de l’UQAM has set up various accessibility services for our exhibitions and activities for deaf and hard of hearing people. These services are aimed at better integrating these communities into the public activities of Galerie de l’UQAM and developing specific opportunities that meet their needs. Furthermore, the exhibition halls of Galerie de l'UQAM are wheelchair accessible.

LSQ video clips
For a selection of exhibitions, video clips presenting the main texts in Langue des signes québécoise (LSQ) are shot. They are available online (see links below) and in the exhibition halls using digital tablets.
