Winter and Spring 2025 at Galerie de l’UQAM: Play, Participate, Hack, Imagine
December 19, 2024
Building on the momentum of fall 2024, Galerie de l’UQAM is proud to unveil the exhibitions of its winter and spring 2025 programming.
The current exhibitions, Inventaires d’une collection and Sarah-Jeanne Landry, À propos de la parole, will continue after the holidays until January 18, 2025. The gallery is offering several activities related to these exhibitions, including a round table discussion on investigative museology on January 14.
The gallery continues its programming with two exhibitions that encourage public participation. On February 13, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and Galerie de l’UQAM will jointly present This Situation, an emblematic work by Tino Sehgal shown for the first time in 2007 and acquired by the MAC in 2011. Resembling a contemporary salon, This Situation allows for open discussions on a range of philosophical concepts and engages visitors in a critical reflection on today’s world. At the same time, Marion Schneider, a graduating master’s student in Visual and Media Arts at UQAM, presents From beginning to end, from end to beginning, a hacktivist exhibition that explores interactive digital art from queer and ecological perspectives. In April, Passage à découvert annually showcases the work of graduating bachelor’s students in Visual and Media Arts at UQAM.
The programming also includes the virtual exhibition Françoise Sullivan. Une ligne imaginaire, available online until May 2028, as well as L’art cultive, a series of free educational kits offered to Quebec teachers to introduce young students to contemporary art.
