This publication accompanies the exhibition Michel de Broin. Machinations, organized by the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec in co-operation with the Galerie de l’UQAM and presented from November 16, 2006, to February 11, 2007, in Quebec City and from October 18 to November 25, 2007, in Montreal. It focuses on the work L’engin, which casts a critical eye on current events and terrorism. This book, which deals not only with the artist’s recent works but also his earlier creations, constitutes an opportunity to analyze the whole of Michel de Broin’s artistic method and to put his main concerns in perspective.
